Jazz possesses a malleable capacity to incorporate music from diverse origins while returning to its roots—that is the richness of the genre. Figures such as Quincy Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Parker, Charlie Byrd, Herbie Mann, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Oscar Peterson, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, Stan Getz, and Miles Davis sought to revitalize jazz. Frank Sinatra called Tom Jobim in '67 to the bar and restaurant where he was and invited him recording an album. They recorded 3 albums. Tom Jobim would spend hours at Sinatra's mansion in Beverly Hills preparing recordings; he said that Sinatra was very kind, very refined, and polite.
