Brazilian music has always been related to American and European music. In the 19th century waltz, mazurka, polka, scottie. Pixinguinha was criticized for having made choro under the influence of jazz in the 20s. He recorded Fox in the 40s and also Custódio Mesquita. Fats Elpídio and Severino Araújo performed jazz shows in the 1930s. Aloísio, Ary Barroso and Carmem were successful with choro and samba in the USA. Bing Crosby recorded Copacabana and Aquarela do Brasil.

Dick Farney lived in the USA and was a friend of Sinatra and his interpreter. Cowby too. Nat King Cole was in Brazil in the 50s. It wasn't Bossa Nova that started this process. All the US jazz giants recorded Tom Jobim.

Ella Fitzgerald, Jones, Carmem, Sarah, H Mann, S Getz, Tony Bennet, Sinatra, H Mann, Nat, Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, Dizzie, Byrd, Duke, Miles
